Shmurk

Diego Santa Cruz is the artist behind the puzzling Shmurk moniker. Growing up in St. Louis, MO, starting with piano and guitar, it wasn’t until college in Phoenix that he was exposed to a vibrant electronic music scene. Having always been a fan of artists such as Hudson Mohawke and Skrillex, when he found acts such as Odesza, Liquid Stanger, and Tipper, Diego began to see the bigger picture. 

Currently residing in Portland, OR, he is developing a style blending historical fiction and magic realism; simultaneously paying homage to countless genres while carving a lane of his own. An audio-visual artisan, he crafts every aspect of his creative universe. With a background in 3D animation and performing as a VJ, his appreciation for a holistic strategy bleeds into his work. On stage Shmurk is armed and ready for anything from an all-original Ableton set with various live elements to full DJ sets and everything in between.
